It’s even easier now to enjoy car free and low carbon activities in the Lake District.
No 1, well walking has to the ultimate activity in the Lake District, a location synonymous with this extremely low carbon way to enjoy a day out. Improved bus and cruise services have opened up areas of the National Park so that the walk start point can be arrived at car free.
No 2, cycling, another highly popular form of exercise/getting around/enjoyment in the Lake District. Improved cycleways, especially off road sections, have been springing up left, right and centre enabling those who aren’t as confident on the roads to still get on their bike.

These little, fun and quirky electric cars are great when a less strenuous form of activity is required. A really special route is going over the mighty passes of Wrynose and Hardknott to the wonderful and wild Western Lake District. Charge the car again in Eskdale before heading back over the passes to Langdale again. In between stop and view a full 360 degree vista of the Lake District and the Roman Fort on Hardknott.
